Getting to the point

Usually if I’m talking about anything I fairly quickly get to the central point I have to make and be done with it. Hourlong discussions are sometimes interesting, but most of the time it just seems that people like to hear themselves talk.

However, today I was reminded of a couple of things:

1. How good my life really is and what a safe and open country I live in, yes, I am talking about Germany that used to be plagued by the NAZIs and that still has deep internal issues with nationalistic idiots and seeing how the social climate is moving contrary to the environmental climate of the world this problem will unfortunately deepen. Anyway, point one: my life is basically pretty good!

2. How other people get to the point even more quickly. I subscribe to the daily New York Times headlines newsletter, mainly because it has the quotation of the day which I find interesting. Today’s quotation needs no further comment:

Finally – the solution

OK, like a lot of people nowadays, I’m online all day using the various messenger protocols. Now the ICQ and Yahoo! networks seem to not care about peoples privacy and I get contacted by strangers who refuse to tell me their intent every time. I used to try to teach them about how the virtual world isn’t a whole lot different from the real one: you introduce yourself and state your business…

Anyway, that never really seemed to work, so I have started a different strategy which does the trick and works quite well and best of all it is now fun for me. I just act like a complete lunatic. A welcome distraction as opposed to my old: dang, leave me alone attitude. Lesson learned: when life gives you lemons you should just make lemonade.

Vielleicht hast Du auch schon die eine oder andere Idee verfolgt. Und? Wie waren die Konzepte so? Hast Du einen Kurs auf einer DVD gekauft um zu lernen wie man reich wird? Warst Du beeindruckt? Ich nicht! Noch nicht einmal ein bisschen! Was versprechen diese Seiten? Ein paar tausend Euro im Monat? Willst Du ein paar tausend Euro im Monat verdienen? Das ist lächerlich!
