Yes, Daniel Ek is a smart guy, getting very rich and I know there is a culture out there commending this.

I find it sad that it’s don on the back of the people who helped shaped almost everyones personalities in their formative years.

And yet, we’re talking about a day this year when new investors in Spotify will earn more than $100m, pretty much guaranteed, for doing nothing more than answering Daniel Ek’s call.
We’re also talking about a day where the major labels, who’ve taken somewhere between 15% and 20% in Spotify, get a ginormous one-hit windfall that looks almost impossible to attribute or audit to individual artists.

“Seeds are gonna be the new currency” – The Big Short (2015) – Highly recommended!!

More than enjoyable: it’s an entertaining and at the same time very moving look at what led to the crash in 2008 that affected my family and me so terribly. If you know me, you’ll know why.

Playing “Crazy” during the “confession session” of the loan brokers scene is so obvious that it’s genius.

“The Big Short” is such wonderful quote fest. The woman at Standard & Poors says: “What do you think we do here all day?” – “Well, what do you do?”. The flip side of this is of course, that all those models that really smart financial mathematicians (and I mean that in all honesty) built and that were running on, I don’t know, either a gigantic server farm or the equivalent of a Raspberry Pi, couldn’t see, that something was fundamentally wrong. That is a lesson to be learned!!

My hope is that this movie will win big at the Oscars 2016.

 

Steve jobs on intellectual property, copyright and stealing

The Revenant (2015)

I’ll keep it short: What I liked: The cinematography is beautiful and captures the temperature and rough country very well. I enjoyed the music and also the lack of music in some of the central scenes. What impressed me: It had moments where it was extremely thrilling and I felt close to what was going on. What I didn’t like: Overall I’m not getting anything out of this film that I can use in my life, further my intellectual growth or inspire kindness and understanding for others. You know, good things. It’s a basic revenge film that plays with the ancient story of wanting to hurt and kill the thing that hurts and kills your family. Although I understand that this theme is real and part of life for those that this happens to, I don’t find anything that helps to move humanity any further toward a better society. Yes, the film didn’t set out to do that, I understand that. I’m saying, that I don’t enjoy it.
