Well, even the best of times has to come to an end.
To me the central experience in this match was the fact that Germany had one of the most apealing teams of the tournament. Fair, emotional yet in control, clever and with the will to win. But it just wasn’t enough. But personally I found the way the media as well as the people on the streets (well at least the streets I was on!) dealt with it was wonderful. No ripping the players in pieces, there really wasn’t anything to rip apart. There has to be a winner and now Italy is that winner. So what, really?
The German team was a great role model, although I hate to use that expression, but they managed to be an inspiring team with a strong and positive attitude and we can only hope that that is what stays with the people. And isn’t it the biggest achievement to create an atmosphere of support even beyond winning? I think it is.
Now, let’s make the final the biggest party ever! Now it doesn’t make a difference anymore who wins (well, almost… 😉 )
I say: great time was had by all and isn’t that what counts?
