Worldcup Blog – Day 1

This is going to be my personal blog to see whether the things I write about this event are anywhere in line or not with what the mass media thinks.

First of all: I’m glad Germany won, it was well deserved they played great and we saw 4 goals! All of them were great and we should not forget that it’s really not that easy against a team that’s basically just in its own half most of the time. So things worked out great! Although yes, there were two goals against Germany but let’s face it: as long as you hit 2 more than your opponent who cares? It just makes the game a lot more interesting for the viewer.

Then Poland and Ecuador was basically a disaster. Poland was nervous, over-anxious and generally just totally not focused but rather all over the place. They had the better technique, the better chances and certainly the better players, but that’s not how soccer works! Soccer is a team sport and it also depends on those 2 minutes of a game where something is actually going down and Poland just didn’t have the focus to score a goal and yes, they did have bad luck hitting the bar twice! Poor guys!

But: the main issue was, I saw a _lot_ more slipping on the field than I have seen in other games so my question is whether something is wrong with the grass, perhaps a little too slippery to make everything more interesting, perhaps some way of trying to cheat the whole system, who knows…. but I will certainly make a not of this here.
