Communication

Sometimes communication works really strange:

“I need some Flamenco guitar licks recorded”

“You know, the Flamenco guitar with all the rhythm and the Rumba is quite lively and such a strong and deep sound”

“Yes, but I don’t need the rhythm guitar, I just need some lead lines”

“Oh there is no one like Paco de Lucia when it comes to lead lines, he put the bar so high, no one can do it that way”

“I see, but can you just play some licks for me?”

“No, what you need is a studio musician”

“There are no studio musicians anymore thanks to the prograamming skills”

“Yeah, but no one makes money playing Flamenco, not even the Spanish guys where it came from”

“Ok, so I’ll keep my money and spend it programming”

“Yes, that sounds good”

So what went wrong in that conversation? I don’t know, but I think it has to do with listening. So really if you think about it communication is much more about listening than speaking. I’m going to try to remember that!
