{"id":4473,"date":"2014-10-17T14:49:03","date_gmt":"2014-10-17T12:49:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hanshafner.de\/blog\/?p=4473"},"modified":"2018-07-15T08:19:01","modified_gmt":"2018-07-15T06:19:01","slug":"the-new-business-model-for-the-music-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hanshafner.de\/blog\/2014\/10\/17\/the-new-business-model-for-the-music-industry\/","title":{"rendered":"The new business model for the music industry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For many years now, the tech industry has told the music industry to &#8220;get with it&#8221; and create &#8220;new&#8221; business models.<\/p>\n<p>Well, they`re here now in the form of<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>outrageous ticket prices<\/li>\n<li>constant marketing mailing\/viral campaigns<\/li>\n<li>increased corporate sponsorships (which is just splendid for artistic freedom, but who`s watching, right?)<\/li>\n<li>investment in venture capital and thus tech startups as you can see from the article below<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What`s gone is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>investment in A&amp;R<\/li>\n<li>advances for producing albums for young bands \/ artists<\/li>\n<li>the middle class career in music<\/li>\n<li>the small indie label investing in niche music out of love<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There is only one solution to this whole dilemma that will bring back freedom to create art:<\/p>\n<p>The audience has to come back with their wallet and directly (!) support the artists they like. Even if those artists happen to be signed to a label. Not all labels are Mega-Corporation-Labels with terrible deals for their roster.
